Bob was born on a farm in northern Minnesota in 1940. He worked on the farm until graduating from high school in 1958. His hobbies during these years were muskrat trapping, hunting, fishing and high school football and basketball. Bob graduated from the University of North Dakota with B.S. and M.S. degrees in Chemical Engineering in 1963. He worked for a chemical company for 38 years at various locations including Michigan, Ohio, Missouri, Texas and Argentina and retired in 2001. For many years Bob has been very active in 12 step programs for those who have or continue to live with relatives and friends who have the disease of addiction. The 12-step programs have given Bob a totally new life, which he shares with his wife Marilyn. They have been married since 1964 and together have raised four beautiful children. Bob joined fellow Al-Anons Ken P. and Scott B. and together they wrote a book titled “We Codependent Men, We Mute Coyotes”. For Bob personally, publication of the book represents the chance to help the families of addicts on an even broader scale. The book is dedicated to his daughter Michelle who died from the disease of addiction in 2005.
